ArcheryClock is a free archery countdown timer program targeting the DIY market. Consequence is a low (or free) prize but means some effort to build the timer.
Low effort for “simple“ systems. And more effort (and skills) for multi-functional (outdoor) -timers.
Basically ArcheryClock it is software running on Windows or Linux to show
- How much time is left for the archers to shoot his arrows.
- It shows on the screen which turn (A-B-C-D) is ongoing.
- And a sound is generated to indicate start or end of shooting.
Optional it is possible to connect Hardware:
- Traffic lights.
- Buzzer.
- Lights to indicate if it's the turn for Archer A, B, C or D.
- 7 segment Hardware
- Matrix panels
- etc.
For controlling the timer, see also: User Manual for Director Of Shooting (DOS)
- Shoot-off functionality added for alternating matches.
- Possibility to show slides (club information or commercials) when retrieving arrows
- Improved layout timing digits.
- Improvements in settings.
- Added functionality like blinking red light.
- possibility to shutdown Raspberry PI client systems via main computer
- Control audio level (VLC) depending on clock status.
- Multicasting. Sent timing via (wireless) LAN to multiple other PC's/Raspberry PI's. So no long VGA cables needed anymore.
- improved remote control for ppt-laserpointer by configurable functions for pointer buttons.
- improved remote control for GPIO on Raspberry PI by configurable input pins.
- Support for Raspberry Pi Platform.
Software is available for free. We are still doing some changes in the code. Mainly to add functionality, but also to improve usability.
Any suggestions to improve the software let us know.
Hardware can be created by people with electronics skills. This site will explain the basics to create the Hardware. If you need help creating the hardware, let us know.

Updated version available.
(version 2.6.1.12).

Including Linux version
New timing rules World Archery.
- Target archery timings will change from average 40 seconds per arrow to 30 seconds per arrow. So, for 3 arrows it changes from 120 seconds to 90 seconds.
- Not sure if new rules will get formally applicable for all national matches.
- For this reason a new version of ArcheryClock is released. Defaults are still 40 seconds per arrow, but predefined button is available to swith to 30 seconds average per arrow.
- When 30 seconds rule becomes common practise an update will become available (most likely 2.6.2.0) where default values are based on 30 seconds average per arrow. But still possible with predefined button to select 40 seconds average per arrow.
